Located in a historic downtown house on Roosevelt Row, Songbird Coffee & Tea House is a hip cafe with custom brewed coffee & tea. Patrons enjoy small bites for breakfast with house-baked vegan options and pastries. At night, jazz fills the air and the front porch. These intimate surroundings offer comfy sofas surrounded by the work of local artists and are one of the most popular coffee shops Phoenix has to offer.

Lola Coffee & Espresso Bar

A bright al fresco red brick establishment sits in downtown Phoenix. It holds a lively coffee bar and cafe that offers fair-trade, hand-roasted coffee. The main store provides a full menu of breakfast bites, baked goods, and a perfect pour over as regular patrons wait for poetry night. This family-owned icon is a great place to work with complimentary WiFi or sit outside and relax with Matcha Tea and a muffin.

A far cry from its humble beginnings as a 6-foot Espresso cart in front of the Phoenix Hub Building, Lola Coffee & Espresso Bar now offers two locations for dining in or takeout.

Giant Coffee

Giant Coffee is the funky arts-district local coffee bar that blends perfect java pours with light fare in a loungelike atmosphere. Locally sourced and roasted, small-batch, single-origin coffee is combined with organic milk and a simple selection of either chocolate or vanilla flavorings. The menu includes local, scratch pastries, handmade breakfast sandwiches, and burritos from Matt’s Big Breakfast for dine-in or takeout. Copper Star Coffee

Copper Star Coffee is set in an old retro gas station in the iconic Melrose District – a funky neighborhood filled with antique shops, nightclubs, and independent eateries. Customers of this counter-serve coffee house can grab smoothies, teas, breakfast, sandwiches, and salads for dine-in or drive-through.

Winner of multiple Best of Phoenix awards, the relaxed vibe and complimentary WiFi make the coffee shop a perfect place to play or work. The local art off-sets the burlap coffee bags that line the ceiling. The dog-friendly outdoor patio is replaced on the weekends with live bands.

Kream Coffee

Kream Coffee is located in a spacious home goods store, For The People, just north of Camelback. It is a perfect place to work or meet one-on-one with free WiFi and plenty of light. And a walk-up window is available for a quick java fix. Focused on community, this uptown shop locally sources all of its single-origin beans from some of the region’s best roasters. The baristas handcraft classic drip, espresso, mocha cappuccino, and the perfect Americano.

Modish furnishings are surrounded by mid-20th-century industrial design and locally handcrafted art, furniture, and jewelry.

The Buzzed Goat

This coffee bar and tap room specialize in cold brew, lattes, coffee cocktails, and cold craft beers. Its signature beverage, The Goat, features a house-made cold brew, cream, and caramel syrup. Or crank it up a notch with the Buzzed Goat, replacing syrup with caramel whiskey. While the in-house menu is limited to pastries and breakfast bites, the Cafe often hosts local food trucks.

Recognized as The Best of 2018 Ahwatukee Foothills, near Chandler, the Buzzed Goat is a popular independent neighborhood java joint hidden in the back corner of an open-air shopping mall. Come for breakfast, stay for happy hour and live up to the motto, ‘stay buzzed.’

Fillmore Coffee Co

This unique uptown Coffee shop is housed in the Skyline Lofts Apartment Homes. Open daily pouring fresh drip, small-batch roasted coffee, gourmet press coffee, and espresso drinks. The menu includes homemade baked goods, breakfast, and lunch items. Locally sourced, handmade creations, including wraps, salads, and sandwiches. A great place to meet or get a little work done before a night on the town. Known in the neighborhood as the Cartel Roasting Company, this hip bohemian-style coffee co. is working to make king coffee. Located just off of N Scottsdale Rd, Cartel Roasting Company strives to use coffee to facilitate a community – a cartel of coffee drinkers throughout Texas, California, and Arizona, including downtown Tucson.

Fair Trade Cafe

Intimate and warm, this modern Cafe on the corner in downtown Phoenix’s Roosevelt Square serves fair-trade, locally roasted coffees. Regulars are surrounded by the ever-changing artistic works of local creatives. It is an excellent place to meet for breakfast or lunch. A full cafe menu includes artisan-crafted sandwiches and in-house baked goods. And for dessert, hand-milled ice cream. Window Coffee Bar is a neighborhood icon located at the Hive in Coronado in Northeast Phoenix. The Window Coffee Bar outshines the competition.

Brightside Studios

Brightside Studios is located in a massive storefront with plenty of tables and counter seating. Find a place to recharge, study, work, or meet.

This coffee shop turned studio and gallery is a place to learn a new skill or watch working artists as you sip on locally roasted coffee. The full menu offers breakfast, lunch, wine, beer, and handcrafted cocktails for daily happy hour. And on the weekend, crepes and mimosas. Upscale ($$$) Coffee Shops in Phoenix

Kahvi Coffee + Cafe

Located in Roosevelt Row Arts District’s iconic monOrchid building, Kahvi Coffee + Cafe is a great place to meet or work on your latest project. The vibe is all coffee — Kähvi means “coffee” in Finnish — with espresso-based drinks made from ethically sourced beans, nitro-infused cold brews, and seasonal blends. A Phoenix hotspot, wine and craft beer from Tempe’s Pedal Haus Brewery complement the perfect avocado toast and sweet bites.

Once inside, there is plenty of room in this casual but chic boho space, peppered with a mix of picnic tables, contemporary sofas, bamboo chairs, and high tops. Kähvi is true to its artistic clientele and regularly hosts live music, drag brunches, and weekly yoga sessions.

This sophisticated independent coffee company offers more than a dozen signature coffee drinks, chai tea, protein drinks, and smoothies. The coffees are brewed from a locally roasted blend of four international coffee beans for a rich flavor.

Modern and elegant, Dapper’s true definition includes unique decorations of dandelion chandeliers, mirrored subway tiles, and neon and ivy accents. A coffee bar meets a proper English pub. Pastries, paninis, and small bites provide snacks for the full bar, wine, and cocktails. And the Stout is found in a local craft beer served ice cold. If you are visiting from Tucson, try the Glendale location at 64 Glendale Avenue.

Lux Central

This popular hipster hotspot radiates artists’ commune. Customers enter the unmarked concrete building and are met with an eclectic assortment of styles, including colorful sofas, coffee table tree stumps, and long picnic-style tables for working or dining. Local artists hang their creations on the walls, hoping for a sale.
